Margriet DeLangeAbout the Founder, Margriet DeLange, M.A., C.P.G.

Margriet DeLange is a certified Gerontologist and insightful Educator.  She received an MA in Gerontology from San Francisco State University (SFSU), and a BA in Psychology from J.F. Kennedy University (JFK.)  She was selected as Alumni of the Year for the JFK School of Education and Liberal Arts.

In addition to founding StoriesUnfolding, Margriet lectures in the Gerontology Programs at SFSU, teaching Death & Dying in Contemporary Society, and Aging and Ethnicity.

She also teaches for Senior New Ways, offering programs to enhance the meaning, purpose, and well-being of seniors.  She served as Director of Activities at Maryknoll Senior Residence and also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Center for Aging and Spirituality.  She presented at the 2006 national American Society of Aging (ASA) Conference in Chicago on the topic of “Coming Fully Alive as You Age.”  At the 2007 ASA West Coast Autumn Series on Aging she presents on “Putting Life Stories to Work – Improving Care Outcomes.”

Margriet’s excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people of all ages and ethnicities combine with her gifts in encouragement, motivation and organization.  She is resourceful, enthusiastic, and compassionate. Her joy in teaching and group dynamics brings out the best in others.

Margriet combines her passion for stories with her love for older adults.  “I have experienced first hand how people feel more alive and valued when their thoughts and feelings are shared and honored by others,” she exclaims.  “It is in a true sense an offering of Wisdom from one life to another.”
